What happens in consultation
This mandatory in-person session lasts exactly 15 MINUTES and is an opportunity for your stylist to assess hair suitability for K-Tip or Micro K-Tip installation. We examine natural length, texture, breakage, and previous chemical or extension history to determine whether keratin-tipped strands are a good match for your hair and routine.
During the visit we discuss your styling goals and decide which installation method best aligns with your needs. While Rêve offers virtual color consultations for some new guests, the K-Tip/Micro K-Tip consultation must be in-person so we can confirm attachment points and set clear next steps before scheduling an installation.
Color matching and selection
Accurate color match is a central task of the consult. Your stylist compares sample strands against your hair in natural and salon lighting, checks root-to-tip tone, and may take reference photos. Being on South Lamar lets us use consistent daylight cues and experienced eyes to reduce surprises after installation.
We also review your recent color services and hair health to choose shades that blend without causing visible banding. If your color history makes a perfect match difficult, we explain options and set realistic expectations so the final look reads natural and compliments your complexion.
Strand count and timing plan
A primary outcome of the consult is an exact strand estimate for the length and fullness you want. Your stylist measures lengths and discusses how many K-Tip or Micro K-Tip strands deliver the target volume, plus trade-offs like additional weight or maintenance. This prevents over- or under-ordering and clarifies the final result.
We’ll also talk scheduling — particularly useful in Austin where demand rises in March through May for events like weddings and proms. After your consult you’ll get guidance on available installation windows, including evening and weekend options that suit South Lamar commuters and clients combining appointments with local activities.
