Answers to common questions about our Training one-on-one shadow day experience.
A Training Shadow Day pairs you one-on-one with our lead stylist for a full salon shift. You'll observe consultations, service techniques, product selection, timing, and client management; plus receive live feedback, demonstrations, and post-day action steps for continued improvement.
We welcome licensed stylists, recent cosmetology graduates, and advanced students seeking mentorship. Prior salon experience is helpful but not required; we evaluate each applicant to ensure the training day aligns with skill level and professional goals before scheduling.
Most Training Shadow Days run a full salon shift (six to eight hours) to maximize hands-on exposure. We provide a schedule in advance, including observation times, practical drills, breaks, and a feedback session at day's end.
Bring preferred shears, combs, clips, and any specialty tools you normally use. We can provide clients or models upon request; let us know during booking if you need assistance sourcing models or would like to practice on salon clients for observation.
Before your session, complete a skills self-assessment and submit portfolio photos if requested. Review our pre-training checklist, arrive with tools sanitized, be ready to take notes, and come with questions and openness to feedback to maximize learning.
We provide a written recap with action items, technique notes, product recommendations, and recommended next steps. You can schedule follow-up coaching, video reviews, or additional shadow days to reinforce skills and track progress toward your career goals.
